Ellie completed her LLB at the University of Birmingham in 2024, achieving a 2:1, before going on to complete her LLM in Legal Practice at the University of Law (Birmingham) in 2025, achieving a Distinction. As part of her progression towards qualification as a solicitor, she has successfully completed SQE1. Ellie joined Witan Solicitors to gain hands-on litigation experience within a supportive team environment, while continuing to develop her technical knowledge and practical legal skills.

Meet Ellie Ann Varney

Litigation Executive

Ellie is a Litigation Executive based in Witan Solicitors’ Birmingham office. She works as part of the Litigation team, supporting fee earners and onboarding clients across a wide range of matters. Ellie joined the firm in January 2026 and plays an active role in supporting cases from initial instruction through to resolution.

What I Work On

Ellie handles a broad range of litigation matters, with a particular focus on commercial and civil litigation. She has assisted on diverse cases including business disputes, harassment, landlord and tenant disputes, employment disputes, court sanctions, and other civil claims. Her work regularly involves drafting correspondence and court documents, reviewing evidence, and liaising with clients and third parties. Ellie enjoys the varied and strategic nature of litigation and is particularly interested in how disputes evolve and are resolved through both procedural and tactical decision-making.

How I Help Clients

Ellie is approachable, organised, and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to supporting clients through what can often be a stressful process. She understands the importance of clear communication and aims to ensure clients feel informed and reassured at every stage of their matter. As a Litigation Executive, Ellie adds value by managing tasks efficiently, anticipating next steps, and maintaining well-organised case files. She takes pride in being reliable and responsive, helping matters progress smoothly while supporting the wider litigation team.

Beyond Work

Outside of work, Ellie volunteers as a Youth Justice Panel Member, helping to promote rehabilitation among young offenders. In her spare time, she enjoys weightlifting at the gym and regularly challenges herself by taking part in half marathons.
