The person
Having lived in four different countries before her mid-twenties, Johanna brings a broad perspective and a natural curiosity to her work. She enjoys the puzzle-solving side of litigation and thrives on advocacy, but it is her ability to handle the human side of a dispute particularly clients who arrive feeling anxious or overwhelmed that colleagues have come to rely on. She is calm under pressure, organised by instinct, and motivated above all by the prospect of getting a good outcome for someone who is counting on her.
Outside the office, Johanna is a long-standing enthusiast of personal development, organisation and healthy living, and could happily talk for hours about any of them. She unwinds through exercise and dancing, and her current go-to recommendation is The Diary of a CEO podcast.
Meet Johanna Aimse
Trainee Solicitor
Johanna holds a First-Class LLB in Law with Criminology and has completed her LLM in Legal Practice, having successfully passed SQE1 and now undertaking her qualifying work experience. She joined Witan Solicitors in September 2025 as a Litigation Executive, and was promoted to Trainee Solicitor in February 2026, in recognition of the high quality of her work and her dedication to clients.
Johanna is also a Civil Mediation Council Accredited Mediator, which complements her litigation practice with a practical, solution-focused approach to dispute resolution. Her core areas of interest include corporate and commercial disputes, estate disputes, civil fraud, mortgage repossession and insolvency, areas where her analytical strengths and problem-solving approach are particularly well suited.
Since joining Witan Solicitors, Johanna has assisted on a wide range of commercial and civil litigation matters, including shareholder disputes, personal guarantee disputes and mortgage repossession proceedings. She has also been involved in issuing winding-up petitions and bankruptcy proceedings, supporting clients through the often time-sensitive and procedurally demanding stages of insolvency-led enforcement.
In shareholder disputes, Johanna assists and now leads with matters arising between company owners, including disagreements over management, decision-making and the fair treatment of minority shareholders. She works closely with clients to help them understand their position, the available remedies and the most effective route to resolution.
Johanna also supports clients facing personal guarantee disputes, where individuals often company directors find themselves pursued for the debts of a business. She helps clients respond to demands, scrutinise the validity and enforceability of guarantees, and prepare a robust position whether negotiating a settlement or defending proceedings.
In mortgage repossession matters, Johanna provides practical support to clients at what is often a stressful and urgent stage. She assists with reviewing lender claims, preparing responses, and helping clients explore options to challenge proceedings, agree workable arrangements with lenders, or otherwise protect their position.
Within the firm’s insolvency practice, Johanna has experience issuing winding-up petitions on behalf of creditors seeking to recover sums owed by companies, as well as bankruptcy proceedings against individual debtors. She is familiar with the procedural requirements at each stage, from statutory demands through to petition and hearing, and supports clients in pursuing recovery efficiently and in line with the relevant rules.
Alongside her casework, Johanna draws on previous experience drafting statements of case, interim applications, witness statements and trial bundles, ensuring compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules.
