The person
Sandreeka’s route to Birmingham runs through three countries. She began her legal studies in Kuala Lumpur, completed her law degree at Queen’s University Belfast and came to the Midlands for Bar training an international path that gave her an easy confidence with people from every background, in three languages: English, Malay and Tamil. A year spent on her feet in courtrooms across England and Wales taught her to stay calm when a hearing takes an unexpected turn and to prepare thoroughly enough that it rarely does.
Outside the office, Sandreeka unwinds with journalling, gaming and origami, and spends as much time as possible with Winston, her miniature dachshund.
Meet Sandreeka Balasubramaniam
Litigation Executive, Birmingham
Sandreeka Balasubramaniam is a Litigation Executive at Witan Solicitors, based in the firm’s Birmingham office. She helps businesses and individuals resolve commercial and civil disputes across England and Wales, with a particular interest in contractual disputes, debt recovery and insolvency-related litigation.
Sandreeka joined Witan Solicitors in June 2026 after a year as a County Court Advocate, representing clients at hearings across England and Wales. Appearing before District Judges in a wide range of civil matters possession and landlord-and-tenant hearings, road traffic and small claims trials, charging order, return-of-goods and bankruptcy applications, and infant settlement approvals gave her first-hand insight into court procedure, judicial expectations and effective advocacy. That courtroom grounding shapes how she prepares cases now: she drafts with a clear understanding of how arguments and evidence will be received at a hearing, identifies potential issues early, and gives clients realistic, commercially focused advice.
Sandreeka completed the Bar Professional Training Course with LLM at BPP University in Birmingham, achieving Very Competent with Distinctions in Advocacy and Drafting, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2025. She is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. Having chosen to build her career in litigation at a solicitors’ practice, Sandreeka does not practise as a barrister — she applies her advocacy training in her role as a Litigation Executive, working under the supervision of the firm’s experienced solicitors.
