Support for Northampton Employers
Northampton is a major logistics and distribution centre, with strong manufacturing, warehousing, retail and professional services around it. Workplace disputes are common across these sectors, and we advise employers of every size on getting the difficult decisions right first time.
We keep pace with the fast-changing rules on employment rights, including the reforms moving through Parliament, and we understand the tribunal process that applies to Northamptonshire employers, so we can help you manage risk, follow fair procedures and avoid claims.

When Employment Issues Land on Your Desk
A single grievance, dismissal or senior departure can swallow days of management time, and it can build a risk you will not see clearly until a claim arrives.
It is normal to want a second opinion before deciding how far to take a workplace problem.
Our advice is practical and calm, and it stays fixed on what the business needs to protect: its people, its reputation and its finances.

Instructing Witan
Begin with a short call to set out what has happened and the outcome you want. In most cases we then read the key documents, such as contracts, policies, the notes of any investigation and the relevant correspondence.
From there we help you weigh the options, spot the practical risks and agree a strategy. Depending on what you face, that might mean rewriting documents, guiding an internal process, negotiating an exit on the right terms, or getting you ready to defend a tribunal claim if one cannot be avoided.

FAQs
Do I need a solicitor for a settlement agreement?
Yes. A settlement agreement is only binding once you have had independent advice on it, so you will need a solicitor either way. We check the terms are fair, explain exactly what you are giving up, and often negotiate a better deal before you sign.
How long do I have to make an employment tribunal claim?
For most claims the limit is three months less one day from the dismissal or other event. Starting early conciliation with Acas (the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) can pause the clock. Miss the deadline and you usually lose the claim, so act quickly.
What is constructive dismissal?
It is when an employer behaves so badly, for example a serious breach of contract, that you feel you have no choice but to resign. These claims can be hard to win, so it is worth taking advice before you hand in your notice.
Can I get a free consultation?
We offer an initial conversation to understand your situation and set out the options. Ask about fixed fees and other ways to fund the work when you call, so you know where you stand on cost from the start.
